My favorite Camping and Travel Podcasts and Videos

Favorite travel blogs

Do you need a new travel podcast to keep you occupied in the car or at work? Need new travel inspo? Do you want to travel, but don't have enough information on how to make it happen for you? I have recommendations! Here are some of my favorite travel-themed YouTube channels and Podcasts.

Best Podcast for Travel Motivation and Inspiration

Zero to Travel

This podcast set the stage for for me to start saving money for travel and taking travel seriously as a goal. People tend to prioritize career goals and health goals. We take professional development classes and head to the gym with the mantra, "No pain, go gain!" But, for some people, travel might be important enough as a goal that it deserves the same attention, sacrifice, and training. Zero to Travel is a great podcast for learning different ways that people prioritize traveling, sometimes in extreme ways, but also in easy and casual ways.

Best Podcasts for Exploring Van Set-ups and Equipment

Van Life Lab

Have you ever thought about what it would take to build a van, and realize you have no clue where to start? Van Life Lab is a podcast by Van building experts, with each episode breaking down one aspect of the van setup at a time. Not sure which brand and wheelbase you should save for? They have an episode for that. Not sure how much power you need? They have an episode! Mobile internet, how to stay cool in summer, or how to raise a cat in a small space? Yup, they have an episode for all of these topics!

I'm not interested in jumping into the van world any time soon, but I still learn a lot about how to optimize my car camping setup from this podcast. For example, learning about the importance of insulation is what led me to make my own Reflectix window covers, and their discussions about moisture control have led me to not cook inside my vehicle during the winter. I highly recommend this for anyone who worries about the logistics of camping or working towards a mobile life.

Best Podcast for Women Who Travel Solo

Shit I Learned Abroad

An absolutely relatable and funny take on traveling, with a special focus on solo female travelers. The two hosts are Canadian expats living in the UK and in Australia, with quite a lot of experience with travel - backpacking, adventure tours, road trips. These ladies have no trouble talking about awkward mistakes like losing a passport or inconvenient cases of travelers' tummy. They also take on heavier subjects like travel safety and ethics. These galls will quickly become your virtual travel big sisters.

Best YouTube Camping Vlog

Nikki Delventhal

If you want to travel the USA with a shoestring budget, camping in a Prius or another compact vehicle is hard to beat. Although she now lives out of a pretty souped-up Sprinter van, Nikki is the OG Prius camping expert, and her early content is the holy grail of learning how to travel in a teeny tiny vehicle. Most of what I learned about cheap camping came straight from her. As a bonus, her dogs are super cute, and she runs a non-profit that helps rescue street dogs in need.

Best Entertainment for Camping Enthusiasts

National Parks After Dark

If you love true crime or paranormal thrillers, and you also like being outside, this podcast was made for you. The two hosts tell stories of murder, bumps in the night, and more with a special focus on national parks. And, if you aren't the type to get too creeped out, it adds a fun element to pre-travel research. I really enjoyed my trip to Apostle's Islands last year after listening to their episode on Hermit Island.

Camp Monsters by REI

If you love urban legends and supernatural stories, you will love this podcast featuring monsters and great audio design. This podcast makes you feel like you are truly listening to a scary story around a campfire.

If you didn't see your favorite podcast or video series here, post it below and I will give it a listen! I would love to keep adding to this list as I find new and worthy media on camping and travel.
